In some countries, shopping online is replacing shopping at store. Discuss both the pros and cons of this trend.

In recent years, online shopping has become prevailing and substantially impacted to consumer shopping behavior. Although this trend offers a myriad of benefits, its significant downsides need to be considered.

On the one hand, there are a number of advantages that shopping online provides to sellers as well as buyers. First, shopping online would be faster and more convenient with e-commerce platforms. Thanks to online shopping, people can buy everything online with a click of mouse or a screen touch and be served with door to door service, helping buyers save a great deal of their time, especially busy housewives. Not to mention, search engines are being optimized in comparing prices of items on e-commerce sites and they might suggest the best bargain goods to users. Second, shopping online opens bussiness opportunities for small retailers. Since sellers do not need to rent retail premises or pay the shop’s assistants, they can drive down the cost of operating stores.

On the other hand, there are some troubles caused by shopping online. First, delivered items may not satisfy customers’ expectation. For example, sellers offer glossy photos but the quality is not the same as advertised, leading to buyers’ frustration when they make a online purchase. Second, there are many risks of being victimized by computer crimes. In fact, ID cards and banking accounts are easily stolent or even private in formation is invaded by hackers when people buy something online.

In conclusion, shopping online poses both opportunities and challenges. While online shopping has been becoming a new trend in the near future due to its convenience, shoppers have to cope with the fact that their private information may be invaded.
